delegation composed of members of Wccc International and
Wccc Italia together with Right Honourable Giovanni
Bianchi, Fabio Alberti and other exponents of "Un
ponte per..." [A bridge for...] and some
journalists, thanks to the then Administrator Delegate
Francis Mengozzi and the sponsorship of Alitalia, that
made available a 747, they are received by the president
of the Iraqi Red Crescent and Tarek Aziz and visit the
Paediatric Hospital of Baghdad. 15 tons of commodities
under embargo are delivered, collected thanks to
volunteer work of members of the Italian Soka Gakkai.
Among the commodities under embargo, also female
sanitary pads.
The
hospitalized children, from 0 to 24 months, were all affected by
leukaemia due to bombardments of the first Gulf War.
None of them could have been saved because three of the
five components of the chemotherapy were also under
embargo.
