World Centers of Compassion for Children Italia Onlus was constituted in July 2004 as the Italian “branch” of World Centers of Compassion for Children International.

Its headquarters are in Rome. The president is Laura Kiss, representative of Betty Williams in Italy since 1998 and, journalist of La Repubblica daily national newspaper. Members, among others, are Liliana Ferraro,  Enzo Cursio, Betty Williams and Rusti Findley.

The non-profit association, became an Onlus in March of 2007.

Wccc-Italy is the prime promotor of  the City of Peace for Children project in Basilicata, Italy.

It creates links between institutions and the private industrial sector to find sponsor partners for the project.

It organizes courses of “Education to the Peace” - the second edition of which will take place in Basilicata in June 2007.

It organizes the world summit Mothers of the Earth for World Peace. The second edition of which, is foreseen to be held in Matera in October 2007.

It organizes fund raising campaigns in support of projects such as Wine for Peace in collaboration with the "Association of Wine Cities". In spring it will start the "Betty's Angels" campaign in the schools of severel Italian regions.

Moreover, it organizes the visits and the conferences of Betty Williams in Italy.

Rusti Findley, graduated in the United States  in Business Administration, has worked closely with Betty Williams since 1998. In the capacity of Executive Assistant for Wccc International, she has travelled extensively with Betty around the world and has dedicated herself to the work of changing the world for the children.

Debbie Williams, Betty's youngest daughter, for many years a nurse specialised in the care of oncological patients, now covers the full-time role of Representative for World Centers of Compassion for Children International at the European Parliament.

Belinda Hollander, artist, sociologist, for many years involved in development projects in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. For World Centers she takes care of the artistic coordination and is our Mediterranean Middle East liaise. She is involved in multi-media didactic publications for Education to Dialogue with the Beresheet LaShalom Foundation.

Milena Kaneva, Bulgarian film director, producer & journalist she moved to Italy in 1987 before the fall
of the Berlin Wall, winner of the Vaclav Havel Special Award 2006 for her documentary Total Denial, the story of the case filed by 15 Burmese workers against Unocal/Total.  A powerful denunciation of the Burmese Military Junta.

Laura Kiss, journalist, focused on science and technology, collaborates with various national and international newspapers. Writes for the weekly Business and Finance insert for La Repubblica daily newspaper. Member of Soka Gakkai Italy since 1993 she is Betty Williams' representative in Italy since 1998 and president of Wccc Italia Onlus.

Enzo Cursio, journalist, in charge of institutional relations of the Gorbachev Foundation, vice-president of the Permanent Secretariat of Nobel Peace Laureates, member since 1991 of the Soka Gakkai Italy, founding member of Wccc Italia Onlus, head of press office of Minister Giovanna Melandri, in charge of institutional relations for Wccc-Italy.

Fiora Bemporad, biologist, photographer and experienced holistic psycho-therapist has collaborated for numerous international institutions and carried out formation courses for the populace of Kosovo on behalf of the World Bank. For Wccc-Italy she develops and conducts Courses on Peace Education for Teachers.

Joanito Liberti, Laura's son, 23, has a degree in Biology and Ecology of Conservation, a Greenpeace member, song writer and musician, among the founding members of Wccc Italia, he takes care of coordinating youth initiatives for the Italian association.
